At eleven days old, newborn Lukas was a handsome little (9 pound) guy. I photographed his big sister, Sophia, earlier this fall for her third birthday, and I was thrilled to get to work with this family’s newest arrival. So far, it seems that Lukas has no hang-ups about the camera. He made wonderful eye contact, slept like a pro, and didn’t poop on his dad. (I’ve never seen a dad so wary of projectile poop.) Here are a few from our session.
If baby isn’t already asleep when I arrive, I like to start out with the more interactive shots between family members and baby. Erica has such a beautiful profile, and isn’t that the sweetest expression on Lukas’ face?

I can see hints of his sister in this face.

Mama, Daddy, and baby.

This might be my favorite image from the session. It is a great representation of where Sophia is at with this new brother thing. She’s curious, but wants to keep her distance, and is feeling a bit put off by all the attention Lukas gets. So normal, but her world has been turned upside down. Sophia didn’t want to join us for any other family shots, but I’m so glad she decided to get close to the action for this one.

Kurts mother made this blanket for Lukas. She also made similar ones for Sophia and for Kurt when they were babies. All of them are named, “Friend.” So here we have Lukas and Friend.

Some classic sleepy-baby shots.

And another of Trevor’s crocheted creations. Is that a bit of a smile?

Just a hint of one here, too.

Over nine pounds at birth, Lukas already has some chunk on him. My favorite crease on a baby is that shoulder crinkle. (Love the bum and toes here, too!)

Sleeping in heavenly peace?
