Session fee…$250
A newborn session ideally happens when baby is between six and ten days old. This way they are still sleepy, squishy, and NEW. The session fee includes all immediate family members. I try to get a balance of interactive shots and posed sleepy baby photos, so we capture what this new child looks like as well as the love that surrounds him or her. Siblings are encouraged to participate, and yes, that can be tricky, but even if a sister or brother just want to eye the baby warily, it will make a great image.
Location
Newborn sessions take place in your home. Don’t worry if you don’t think your home isn’t catalog perfect. I set up camp by your brightest window and can either stay there for the whole session or explore other light in other rooms. Also, please don’t clean house for me. I’ve seen it all and what’s most important is that you are rested and as stress-free as you can be. I bring all my props, blankets, etc. with me and move into your home for anywhere from two to four hours. We take our time and allow for breaks for baby to eat, be changed, soothed, and lulled back to sleep.
Scheduling
How can you book a newborn session for a week after your baby is born when you don’t know when your baby will be born? I put your due date on my calendar and reserve possible session spots in the weeks around that date. As soon as your baby is born, you (or someone close to you) will send me an email to let me know, and I will respond with a couple of choices for your session. We choose a date and then I will send you information on how to prepare for your session. In order for me to reserve time slots around your due date, I need to receive your full session fee and the portrait agreement, and then we just wait.
Collections
Two weeks (or so) after your session, I will provide you with a link to your online gallery of hand-edited images. I offer three digital collections, and once you have chosen one, you will also have the option of purchasing albums, announcements, wall displays, etc. It’s very important to me that you get beautiful results from your images, so I provide you with instructions for where to get quality prints. All digital images are in high resolution and are suitable for all your photo needs.
