Bike.

While I was at a session this afternoon, my parents stopped by our house and gave Abby a BIKE. How is my little girl old enough to have a bike? She hasn’t been too keen on balance bikes, but she sure is excited about the real thing. She and Trevor showed me her skills in the driveway when I got home. Every image I took of Abby riding includes her tongue sticking out. She does that when she’s concentrating. I’m afraid she’ll bite it off when she falls. But doesn’t she look happy? Trevor does, too. That’s Wally on his scooter in the background. Thank you, Mom and Dad!

Hot dogs.

Abby has been begging to have hot dogs and sweet potato fries lately, so we gave in tonight. I love that her idea of a hot dog is a chicken and apple sausage. She probably wouldn’t even recognize the real thing.

Baby.

Wally fell asleep on me while we were reading books this afternoon. I soaked up his warmth and enjoyed every minute of that nap. It reminded me of when he was a baby and wouldn’t nap anywhere but in my arms. I get a lot more done these days, but I miss my baby Wally.

Chilled.

We met a friend and her 8 month old baby at the beach today. It was windy and cold, and for the first time (ever?) Abby asked to go home after about an hour. She got to try out her new boots in the water, though!

Strong.

Strong Abby carrie Wally from the car to the house. A pretty remarkable feat since she only weighs about four pounds more than him.

V-Day.

Sending our love to all of you on Valentine’s Day. We shot this in under a minute. It was a very FULL day, but we filled it with love (and candy).

Lips.

A pure kairos moment when I just marvel over how beautiful my kids are. I love those lips.

House.

{Please excuse the poor flash photography.} While I was at a session, Trev and the kids built a house frame they had seen on Pinterest. I think it’s a little bigger than the original, in typical Peterson overbuild fashion. The kids love it, though. I love that it is easily dismantled.

Brownies.

Wally has turned into a master snooper. Combine that with a massive appetite, and we’re having some issues. This morning Wally found these brownies in an upper cabinet and used a stool to climb onto the counter and clean out the pan. It was HALF FULL to start. He came into our room later with a chocolate-covered face and hands. The sugar high lasted for quite a while.

Shake it.

Wally has been enjoying the feeling of his hair whipping across his face and neck when he shakes his head lately. Lots of shaking it going on in our house.

Valentines.

For the first time ever, Abby made her classmates’ Valentines COMPLETELY by herself. I didn’t do a thing! My girl is growing up.

Black.

Abby and I went to the Teddy Bear Picnic at Teacher Kathy’s house today. She brought Black, the black bear given to her when she was two months old by our friends Bob and Stacy. What a LONG time ago.

Golden.

Abby brought home a Valentine for Trevor today. At the bottom it says, “I love you like my favorite color, golden.” That’s been Abby’s favorite color since early December when I got a pedicure with gold sparkle polish.

Jamba.

After preschool we took advantage of the beautiful weather to hang out with our friends, Julia and Hannah. The three kids played so sweetly together (until Wally ran into the street and gave me quite the scare. I haven’t run that fast in a LONG time.).

Love.

We love the new Valentine’s cups at Starbucks. They celebrate EVERY kind of love and are just beautiful. We want our children to appreciate and respect the many kinds of love in the world.
