Winner.

After testing swatches on our living room wall for about a year now, I’ve finally settled on a color! It looks white-ish here, but it’s not. One wall has one coat and I’m loving it. Lots of work to be done.

Prepare.

Birth has been on my mind a lot lately. Yes, it always is, but more recently than usual. I’m reading Ina May’s new book, Birth Matters, I just got tickets to see Ina May when she’s in Seattle, I’m planning a table at the birth fair, and I’m on call to photograph two births, one...

Sorry.

Another rough goodbye today. Abby did not want to take Naomi’s dress off or help clean up the room. So she ended up in her car seat naked and sad. On the bright side, when we got home she gave me a hug and said, “I’m sorry, Mama,” all on her own.

Chip.

This afternoon we had Jackson, Brooklyn, Alex, Preston, Josie and their mamas over to play. The chickens played, too, and at one point, Chip was selected to let the kids have some hands-on time. Yesterday, Wally started picking Chip up by her wings. Today after lots of gentle petting, he pulled her to him in...

Ti.

Abby is home! We’re all happy to have her back. Before bed, the kids got to have “ti, a drink with jam and bread”. We are hoping that some Throat Coat will help Wally sleep better than last night. Both kids liked the jam and bread, but I don’t think Abby was impressed with the...

Food.

Wally’s words are just pouring out of him lately. Today he told Trevor, “Lunch. Toast. Jam. Butter.” And this evening he stopped nursing and said, “Food!” and got up to the counter for some dinner. He ate his sweet potatoes and turkey meatloaf alone at the counter because Abigail is enjoying her first sleepover at...

Scouting.

The kids spent all day scouting session locations with me today. My intent was to let them out at several spots and do a few pictures, but after the first park, I was happy to do all my research from the car. Wally does NOT want to be carried or to hold hands. He wants...

Truck.

Ever since finding out that Wally was a boy, I’ve diligently tried to guard him from “boy” stereotypes. I tried not to dress him in head to toe blue, baseball uniforms, or shirts with male slogans. We didn’t go out and buy “boy” toys, with the hope that Wally would discover things that he was...
