Ham.

Today was Abby’s last day of swim lessons in this session. I didn’t realize that the last day is more of a goof-off day, but now I know. Abby put her face in the water several times (on her own), but mostly they just played, dumped water on each other and had a good time....

Sparkle.

Abby nearly hyperventilated when I showed these to her in the store. We don’t do many sparkly things at our house (and that’s deliberate), but I think these are pretty cute. They are also GREAT motivators. I’m calling them her “good behavior” shoes. If she isn’t acting kindly or isn’t listening to mama, her sparkle...

Kisses.

Both kids give us big, fat, juicy kisses before bed. And they give them to each other, too. Don’t be afraid for Abby here. While it looks like he’s going to bite her, he’s just giving her a nice kiss.

Bedtime.

After his snooze on the grass (in the rain) at Abby’s swim lesson, I knew that bedtime wasn’t going to be fun tonight. Especially with Trevor at a meeting. I was right. So instead of forcing the issue, we did pictures instead. I’d say this is a pretty accurate portrayal of Wally’s antics tonight. He...

Cherries.

In addition to our usual kettle corn and donuts and falafel sandwich, we picked up some cherries at the market today. Abby will eat this whole bowl. Wally tried one and didn’t care for it.

Timber.

Aside from the hot tub at the end, Abby’s favorite part of class is the “Chop, Chop, Timber” game. The kids line up on the side of the pool and then take turns jumping to the instructor. Abby gets the most air time of anyone.

Crash.

Poor Wally is falling asleep every time we get in the car these days. On the bright side, bedtimes have been great!

Lessons.

Abby took her first swim lesson today. We have a fabulous outdoor pool within walking distance of our home, and I love that this is where Abby will learn to swim. Of course, it might not be as fun to take her to lessons when it’s raining, but today was gorgeous! And of course, Abby...

Pie.

We hosted the family over for a Fathers’ Day BBQ today. It was kind of cold and gray, but I think we all still had a great time. Abby certainly enjoyed the berry pie my grandma brought. She licked her plate clean.

Festival.

What a rainy, busy June day. We ended it at the Edmonds Arts Festival where Trevor had taken a volunteer shift in the information booth. I had a newborn session this afternoon, so Lora came over to be with the kids at the festival until I returned. When I met up with Lora and the...

Sleep.

In hope of getting Wally to an earlier bedtime, we are contemplating getting rid of Wally’s nap time. He does really well without a nap as long as he is busy playing, but as soon as he gets in the car he conks out. Today he fell asleep in the car on the way to...

65.

Sixty-five degrees in Seattle and the wading pools come out. Josie, Abby, and Wally had a great time splashing around in the pool in Bonnie’s front yard today. Once Wally got used to the splashing, he did plenty of it himself, and when the girls were off doing other things, Wally just stood in the...
