Bed.

Truck bed = confined play space = two parents who can get some work done.

Vacuums.

I’m tempted to let the chickens come inside the house so they can clean up after the kids eat dinner.

Ensemble.

I LOVED Abby’s outfit today. She put it all together herself.

Lashes.

I’ve wanted to get a shot of these for years. I love the teeny freckles, too.

Peas.

We harvested some sugar snap peas today, but first I tried out my new lens on them. I’m in love. And the peas were delicious. Wally enjoyed crunching them in his mouth and then throwing the pieces to the chickens.

Grandma.

Wally was desperately sad at Abby’s swim lesson today because he wanted to go swimming, too. It wasn’t until the end of the lesson that Wally’s smile returned, and of course it was for Grandma French. If anyone can pull Wally out of a mood, it’s Grandma.

Dinner.

Soup, bread, cheese, egg. Hardly a summer dinner, but appropriate on a day that began with thunderstorms.

Stems.

While I worked, the Trev and the kids got our cherries ready for jam-making. Abby and Wally pulled off the stems and then Trevor pitted them with a bobby pin. It was a great system.

Birthday.

Wally has been filling me with joy from the moment I caught him, standing in our birth pool two years ago. Part of me can’t believe it was just two years ago, and another part of me feels like he’s been here forever. We celebrated Wally’s birthday by going to the market and then going...

Abby has been making huge strides during this session of swim lessons. She now puts her face completely in the water to blow bubbles, will dunk herself and stay under for four seconds or so, and continues to be a ham in general. Today, while they had the life jackets out, Abby set off on...

Throw.

After dropping Abby off at the ferry, Wally and I hung out at the beach to wait for Trevor’s train to come in. Wally just wanted to throw rocks in the water, even when Trevor came and we were wanting to go.

Helping.

Wally wanted nothing to do with the dentist’s office today. The hygenist didn’t even attempt to clean his teeth, saying that she’d let Dr. Rama do it. While we waited, Abby climbed up into the chair to watch the movie they were playing. Wally followed her. It didn’t last long, and as soon as Dr....

Practice.

We searched out a covered play area today so the kids could play with their scooters while it rained. When we started, Wally was the more adept one, but now Abby can zip around really fast. Turning still needs work, but I was amazed at how much improvement Abby made in one day. Thank you,...
