Treasure.

Today I turned 34. And I’m fine with that, especially because my day ended with a fun treasure hunt put on by Trev and the kids, gorgeous earrings (that we’ll just say that Trevor picked out himself, though that wasn’t quite what happened), and a delicious dinner with my husband. Happy birthday to me! Thirty-four...

Door.

The good news is that I now have an office with a door. The bad news is that this is what happens when I close it.

Castle.

The kids and I picked Trevor up at work today on our way down to Ikea to get a storage unit for my office. We toured the newly decorated branch, which has managed to out-do itself once again with over-the-top festivity. The kids were fascinated by the train that circled a little snow-bound village behind...

Lights.

We spent last night and today in a flurry of cleaning, organizing, and decorating. We got as far as getting the tree up and stringing the lights before we had to call it a day. This is our first year with colored lights on the tree, and I’m loving them. Especially with my 100mm macro.

Tree.

This morning we embarked on our annual Christmas Tree Hunt with the Groesbecks. We met at Starbucks for breakfast, decided on Farmer Brown’s Christmas Tree Farm, and put Lance and Trev in one car and Kelly and I in another so we could chat on our way there. This was our first time to this...

Cleaning.

While I was working (so many of these posts start out that way, don’t they?), Wally was occupying himself in the living room and kitchen. I could hear him opening drawers and playing with the contents, but that’s normal in our house. But then it got quieter and all I could hear was a swish,...

Thanksgiving.

We spent Thanksgiving at my parents’ this year. After the delicious meal, aunts and uncles and cousins went home and we played 10-1 with Mom, Dad, Dan and Jessica. Abby and Wally both liked pounding out their bids and helping grandpa keep score. I am incredibly thankful for my family. And on top of all...

Starbucks.

Abby and Wally sucking down their reward for cooperating during our photo session today. I’d say it was the most successful session I’ve had with my kids. Minimal frustration on my part (though there was some, for sure), NO tears (well, Wally did fall down and skin his knee, but I don’t think there were...

Rice.

Trevor suspects that I may be a Jessica imposter because I suggested that we have Chinese food for dinner. The kids loved the chow mein, though Abby left a big pile of brown rice on her plate. Wally ate his noodles and rice and then scooted over to Abby’s seat and finished hers off as...

Preschool.

Today was the first day in a LONG time when the kids and I didn’t HAVE to do anything. Bliss. I spent a good part of the morning cleaning house, and while I did, the kids played together beautifully. At one point I heard Abby call Wally into the playroom because preschool was starting. I...

Prep.

Abby and Trevor spent this afternoon rolling, cutting, and baking gingerbread. It’s going to be epic.

Rhino.

Wally’s bedtime routine is changing, and it’s wonderful and a little sad. As soon as Trevor puts Abby to bed, he tells Wally to give me kisses and then they go read a book in his bed. I Know a Rhino is the current bedtime favorite and Wally keeps it under his pillow once his...
